Lecturer:  Mr Ian Keable

Satirist to Insanity:  Celebrating the Works of Ian Gillray 1756-1815

The wickedly subversive Gillray was the natural successor to William Hogarth.  His brilliant draughtsmanship, scholarship and level of invention made him the outstanding cartoonist of the Georgian era and the forefather of Spitting Image and the cartoons of Gerald Scarfe and Steve Bell.
