Turner, Constable and the Romantic Imagination

The great period of English landscape painting coincided with the flowering of Romantic literature.  This fascinating talk explores some of the common themes in Turner's painting of light and the sublime with the odes of Keats and Shelley; whilst Constable's determination to paint the working landscape reflects concerns akin to Wordsworth's and Coleridge's desire to write in language really used by the common man.
